No, really dear reader… why have you come?? I specifically mentioned that this wasn’t a real post so that you wouldn’t surf all the way over here to Guavaland when you could just as easily catch this wonder when reading another REAL post…heheehe…
Oh silly Guava-lovers…. why do you put up with me? Well, in all honesty, and since you’re already here, I do actually think this is worth a visit… it’s a find at Farmer’s Market… I am kind of bummed I didn’t buy one now that I look at the bad pic I got…
Are you getting how big this is??? No, probably not… but seriously it was the biggest onion I’ve EVER seen!! It was at least the size of my head… and we have had conversations about my abnormally large head before haven’t we?? These giant maui onions were everywhere and going for $2 a pop! I really wanted to get one and whittle away at it all week but Mr. Guava, logical voice of reason that he is, pointed out how obnoxious and tiresome this would get not to mention the fact that a halved onion of this magnitude would make our fridge pretty stinky. Sorry, I don’t have a better pic… this one was the biggest and was sort of on display and out of reach… and b/c I kept lurking around it and poking it the guy who owned the stand was kind of giving me a dirty look… I think he thought I was going to grab it and run… but really I was just admiring it!!! I was going to try for one more pic but I got the stink eye so Mr. Guava was like… don’t make eye contact and just walk away!!!
Hehee… but seriously no more need to waste time here friends this isn’t a real post…
Sweet Maui Onion Love,
Guava

oh my god, that onion is huge!! I would have been curious to see if it tasted any different. damn mr. guava for his logic! boo logic!
hehehe
Wow! That is one BIG onion. I wonder how it tastes? Cause sometimes bigger isn’t better. Um..yeah..okay Amanda. Of course I had to stop by..tell me not to do it and my curiosity arises! OMG..I have an obnoxiously large head too..still stinging memories from my sister telling me in high school that someone in her class saw me (we’re two years apart) and said “wow, so her sister has a large potato head too!” But we potato heads know that our big noggins harbor crazy creative brains to the envy of the small-headed. Hum..that could sound bad taken out of content..but you know what I mean! Next time I come to CA, I’m so stalking out the Guava Cottage and inviting myself in with Seasons 1-7 of GG and veggie goodies. You won’t be able to resist!! he he he. We big headed girls must stick together =) Just don’t bend down to grab the remote to rewind the Sookie moments at the same time lest our gigantic noogins collide..ha ha!
reasons why Amanda makes me unbelievably happy… see above…
I always enjoy abnormally large produce. Definitely still worth stopping by for me. I love your humor.
Hmmm I swore I commented…where did it go!?!
Hmmm I swore I commented…where did it go!?!
teehee… I thought I got a slew of comments but it was really just kelly sending me extra love! hehee… “love” accepted… and I concur abnormally large produce is enjoyable…
What an amazing onion! I just saw a recipe for maui onion dip; I’m so intrigued by them now!
Of course we all had to stop by and read your post! That is one huge onion! If you love big produce you MUST come to Alaska. Because we have near 24-hour daylight here we grow so wickedly big veggies. I was trying to find a good website to show you, but this one will have to do:
http://www.recordholders.org/en/records/vegetables2.html
If I go to the fair this year I will take photos for you!
OMG!! That’s so stinkin’ amazing Tara!!! I hope that they have giant vegan feasts with all those veggies!!!
That’s one huge-assed onion. I’d love to get one and bring it home to scare my boyfriend – he really hates finding onion in his food and thinking I was going to put this in his dinner would scare the crap outa him!
teehee… I love how all us non-violent vegans are always thinking up ways to trick and/or scare loved ones with vegetables… the funny thing is it works!!! silly how intimidating veganism can be to non-vegans/veggie lovers… hahaha…
I don’t heed warnings. I will always visit. Awesome onion!!!
That onion should be submitted to the state fair for a blue ribbon for most obnoxiously large vegitable
Right?? Not quite as big as your Viv and Larry Collection… but still.. muy impresivo
I don’t believe that it’s a real onion. what would you possibly use that much onion for besides onion rings. that seller had the right idea to keep a watchful eye, I’m sure you aren’t the only onion lurker out there…
