Pets My Guava Would Love to Adopt Introduction: Irish Momma

10 11 2008

So I have no idea who out there in this great wide internet world is reading my blog but I have a sneaking suspicion a lot of you may be animal lovers. Now I grew up with pets being very real members of the family but I also grew up going to pet stores to get some of them. In fact I did get suckered into buying one of my dogs from a pet store, a mistake I’d never regret because of how much I love him, but also one I would never make again! I have this dream that someday I can have a “pet store” with all rescue dogs that we adopt from the shelter, have them cleaned up, and sort of just running around for people to come in and meet in a commercial area that gets a lot of traffic. I figure that while some people may not care, for others, the thought of going to the shelter just might not have crossed there minds. I also think that in this setting if you can get traffic from a demographic that can afford to pay a little more then this money could be filtered back into shelters and rescue organizations. There’s a lot of loose ends that need to be tied up but hey… here’s to hoping someone out there has a pile of money lying around just trying to figure out what kind of organization they’d like to start up or a rich dog loving donor out there ready to write me a big fat investment check! :) Also, I figured since I’m constantly sending Mr. Guava links to dogs we just HAVE to save I could start up a little something good here by sharing those links with you and highlighting some special furry friends that have caught my eye and give them a little extra publicity… my first spotlight will be…

Irish Momma

(Which I’m not going to lie… breaks my heart because she looks a little like my Dublin)

irishHere’s a link to her Petfinder page.

And a link to Neely’s Pet Place the shelter where she’s currently staying.

This sweet Mommy came in with her pup. She was tied to a fence on a 5 foot rope with no food or water, the owner was away and there wasn’t anyone to care for her. Now she’s happy, healthy and ready to be the best friend you’ve ever had!
